The Washington Commanders made yet another major move this offseason, signing wide receiver Stefon Diggs on Wednesday afternoon in the second week of training camp.
Diggs is expected to sign a one-year, $10 million contract giving Washington another proven playmaker to pair with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The four-time Pro Bowler brings elite route running, veteran leadership, and a proven record as one of the most productive receivers in the NFL, giving quarterback Jayden Daniels another reliable target.
The Commanders entered the offseason with questions surrounding the No. 2 wide receiver role despite encourging performances in training camp from rookie Antonio Williams, Jaylin Lane, Luke McCaffrey, Treylon Burks, and Dyami Brown. Washington had previously been linked to San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, but instead addressed the position by adding Diggs, a Maryland native and hometown favorite.
This signing not only gives the Commanders one of the most experienced receiving duos in the NFC, but it adds yet another dynamic weapon to a team looking to bounce back from last year's 5-12 season.
